In using the shampoo, you should make sure that it really gets deep into your carpet. More importantly, before applying the shampoo, it is advisable that you vacuum your pet first because it may help a lot in getting rid of some fleas that are hiding and might be forced to leave because of the vibration. After you are finished, you can then apply shampoo with the use of a rake so that you go deep into the carpet fibers.
Finally, if you want an alternative, you can always try a flea trap that is also easily found in the pet stores. Flea traps are safe to put in places where your pets and children are having a fun time together while running, hugging and playing. With this, you won’t need to worry for the safety of your children or your pets. One more reason why it is a good alternative is that it can attract fleas even if they are several feet away.
